Frequently asked questions
Common questions about NuTalk: what it does, plans and credits, how it works, compliance and integrations.
General
What is NuTalk?
NuTalk runs AI agents that answer and make phone calls and reply to messages on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and your website's chat. They can book appointments, qualify leads and follow up through campaigns, and your team works from the same dashboard: calls, conversations, contacts and results.
How do the agents sound?
Listen for yourself: when you choose the voice of a voice channel, you can play a recorded sample of each voice first.
What languages are supported?
English and Spanish. Contact us if you need another language.
Can I use my own phone number?
Yes. In Phone numbers, you can verify a number you already have to use it as caller ID for outbound calls, or buy a NuTalk number in Mexico, the US or Canada. On NuTalk SMB, an AiBox connects your analog landline, so the agent answers on the number you already have. Connecting your PBX or phone system is scoped and set up with our team.
Can I start for free?
Yes. Every new workspace starts on Pay as you go, with free credits every month and no credit card. You can create agents, make test calls and run small campaigns, then buy credits in Billing when you need more.
Pricing and billing
How does pricing work?
NuTalk bills usage in credits: calls, messages and other AI work use them at your plan's rates. Pay as you go comes with free credits every month, and you buy more in Billing when you need them. For current plans and prices, see the pricing page.
What counts against my credits?
- Calls, billed per started minute, and unanswered call attempts.
- Messages on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and your website's chat.
- Other AI work: evaluations, call and chat summaries, campaign analyses, Copilot answers and tests.
In Billing, Rates lists what each one costs on your plan. Calls through your AiBox line use no credits, and phone numbers are a monthly charge on your card, not credits.
Do unused credits roll over?
No, credits expire. Your plan's credits last at least until the end of the billing period they are for. Credits you buy last for the time shown when you buy them: 30 days, unless your workspace has a longer validity. Billing shows when each batch expires; if you need credits to last longer, contact us.
How do I cancel my plan?
An owner cancels a paid plan in Billing: under Subscriptions, open the plan's options and choose Cancel plan. The plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
Technical
How do I handle agent mistakes?
Write clear instructions with example conversations and edge cases. Try changes in Automated testing before you deploy them, and use the evaluations of real calls and chats to find what to improve.
Can a person take over from the agent?
In chats, yes: anyone on your team who can reply can click Take over in Conversations, and the AI stops until you hand the chat back. On calls, when the agent can't help, it takes the caller's details, and your team follows up from the call's transcript and summary in Calls.
What AI models do you use?
It depends on your plan. On NuTalk SMB and NuTalk Call Center, speech recognition and the language model for your calls run on servers NuTalk operates in Mexico and Texas, US. On Pay as you go, the language model for calls runs on vetted cloud partners. Voices come from cloud text-to-speech. WhatsApp replies and call scoring use AI models from vetted cloud partners that don't keep the data or train on it, or NuTalk's own servers for an extra fee. An agent's Channels tab shows the model that answers on each channel.
What are the API rate limits?
1,000 requests per hour and 100 requests per minute per workspace by default, shared by all its keys; the MCP server has its own allowance of the same size. Higher limits are available on request: contact us. See our rate limits documentation for details.
How reliable is the platform?
Production is health-checked every 15 minutes, and database and backend changes are tested on a staging copy before they reach production. If you need a written service-level agreement, contact us.
Compliance and security
Does NuTalk help me follow calling rules such as the TCPA?
It gives you the tools: a Do not contact mark on each contact that stops every campaign from enrolling, calling or messaging that person, calling hours and holidays, and retry limits. Compliance is still your responsibility, so we recommend consulting legal counsel for your use case.
Do I need to disclose it's an AI?
Regulations vary by jurisdiction. Some states require disclosure that the call is automated. We recommend configuring your agent to disclose its AI nature when asked, and proactively in jurisdictions that require it.
How is call data stored?
Call recordings and transcripts are stored encrypted at rest and kept as described in our privacy policy. To delete recordings or transcripts, contact support: neither the API nor the dashboard deletes calls.
Can I get NuTalk's security documentation?
Enterprise customers can request our security documentation and complete a security questionnaire.
Can I use NuTalk in the EU?
Contact us about your GDPR requirements, where your data would be stored and data-processing terms before you start.
Integrations
Which CRMs do you integrate with?
We have native integrations with HubSpot, Kommo and Odoo. You can connect other CRMs through Zapier, webhooks or the API.
Can agents book appointments?
Yes. Agents check availability and book during calls with NuTalk's own scheduling for clinics and businesses (business scheduling syncs with Google Calendar), or with Cal.com. See the Cal.com integration guide.
How do webhooks work?
Register an endpoint through the API with the events it should receive, and NuTalk POSTs each one to it, signed so you can verify it came from NuTalk: call results (call.completed when a call was answered, call.failed when it wasn't) and conversation events such as message.received. Each campaign can also send its own events (a lead added or finished, calls, WhatsApp messages) to any URL from its Integrations tab. See the webhooks documentation.
Do you have SDKs?
Not yet. The REST API is described by an OpenAPI 3.1 document at /v1/openapi.json, so you can generate a client in your language, and every endpoint page has cURL, Node.js and Python examples. AI assistants can use the MCP server and API directly.
