AI phone surveys that ask your customers for you
Upload a customer list or send one contact after each visit. NuTalk's AI agent calls, asks your questions in English or Spanish, retries when nobody answers and keeps every answer in the call's transcript and summary.
Pay per use starts free · NuTalk Call Center from $599 USD/mo
How it works
How an AI phone survey runs
Set it up once. NuTalk works through the list inside your calling hours.
Add contacts
Upload a CSV, pull them from HubSpot or Kommo, add them through the API, or send one contact after each visit through a webhook.
Write the questions
Put them in the agent's instructions and set a goal such as “Asked all three questions”.
Launch inside your hours
Nobody answers? The campaign retries, or a workflow step sends a WhatsApp template.
Read the answers
Each answer is in the call's transcript and summary, and your goal results count the completed surveys.
What it does
What you can ask and track
Rating and open questions
A 0 to 10 recommend question, a 1 to 5 satisfaction rating, a yes or no, or an open question such as “what could we do better?”.
Follow-ups based on the answer
The agent holds a conversation, so a low score can get a “what happened?” before the next question, when your instructions ask for it.
English or Spanish
The agent follows the customer's language, English or Spanish, unless our team sets it to one language.
WhatsApp after a missed call
A workflow step can send a WhatsApp template when nobody answers. Meta approves templates and charges its fees.
Calling hours, retries, do-not-contact
Call on the days and hours you choose, retry by outcome, and skip anyone marked do-not-contact in every campaign.
Completion tracked by goals
A goal such as “Asked all three questions” is scored after the call, within hours or overnight, when evaluations are on for your plan. Its success rate shows by day, week or month.
Sample questions
Questions that work on a phone survey
Pick three at most. On the phone, a short survey is one people finish.
- “On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely are you to recommend us to a friend?”
- “From 1 to 5, how satisfied were you with your visit?”
- “How easy was it to book your appointment?”
- “What's one thing we could do better?”
- “Would you like someone from our team to follow up on your answer?”
Write the questions the way you'd say them out loud, one idea per question.
Before you call
Consent and calling rules
Outbound AI calls are regulated, and you decide who gets called. NuTalk applies your calling hours, retries and do-not-contact list; consent and the lists you upload are yours.
- United States: AI-voice calls to mobile numbers, business contacts included, and to home lines need prior express consent; marketing calls need it in writing.
- Mexico: check the REPEP registry before marketing calls to consumers.
- A contact marked do-not-contact is skipped in every campaign.

Which plan runs your surveys
Surveys run on every plan. What changes is where the calls go out from and how many run at once.

Limits
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't build survey charts or a results dashboard: answers live in each call's transcript and summary, and goals count the completed surveys.
- It doesn't run anonymous surveys: every answer is tied to the contact who was called.
- It doesn't send incentives or rewards for answering.
- It doesn't catch an opt-out said on a call unless AI sentiment analysis is on in the campaign's retry settings.
- It doesn't put a person on the line mid-call. Your team gets the recording, transcript and summary.
FAQ
Phone survey questions
What is an AI phone survey?
It's a short survey that an AI voice agent runs by phone: it calls your customer, asks your questions in a natural conversation and keeps the answers in the call's transcript and summary. Unlike an IVR survey, the customer answers out loud in their own words instead of pressing keys.
What questions can the AI ask?
Any question you write in the agent's instructions: a 0 to 10 recommend question, a 1 to 5 satisfaction rating, a yes or no, or an open question such as “what could we do better?”. The agent can ask a follow-up when an answer calls for one. Keep it to three questions or fewer, so the call stays short.
Where do I see the answers?
In each call's transcript and summary in NuTalk, next to the recording. A goal such as “Asked all three questions” shows how many surveys were completed; it's scored after the call when evaluations are on for your plan (credits on pay per use, confirmed for your package on the flat plans), within hours or overnight. There's no per-question results table, so to tally answers elsewhere, pull each call's transcript and summary through the API.
Can it run NPS and CSAT surveys?
Yes, as questions: the agent can ask the 0 to 10 recommend question behind an NPS survey and a 1 to 5 satisfaction (CSAT) question. NuTalk doesn't calculate the NPS for you; each answer is in the call's transcript and summary, and you tally them in your own spreadsheet or tool.
Can surveys go out on WhatsApp?
A campaign can send a WhatsApp template, for example after a missed call, with your question or a link to your survey. Templates need Meta's approval, and Meta's fees apply. When the customer replies, the AI agent on your WhatsApp number can carry on the conversation, or your team can answer from the inbox.
Do I need consent for survey calls?
A survey call is still an outbound AI call. In the US, AI-voice calls to mobile numbers, business contacts included, and to home lines need prior express consent, and marketing calls need it in writing. In Mexico, check the REPEP registry before marketing calls to consumers. A contact marked do-not-contact is skipped in every campaign. This is general information, not legal advice; talk to your counsel before you launch.
Which plan do I need?
Surveys run on every plan. Start free on pay per use and call from a NuTalk number, which has a monthly price and uses credits for calls. NuTalk SMB ($299 USD a month, with the AiBox installation of $149 USD quoted and billed separately) gives you unlimited AI calls on your own line, one at a time. NuTalk Call Center, from $599 USD a month through our sales team, runs larger lists with unlimited AI calls and simultaneous calls sized for your package. Connection to your PBX or phone system (SIP) or Zoom Phone is scoped and set up with our team. Fair use applies: we review usage above 5,000 minutes a month per line.
